Pre-Departure

I am very excited for the study abroad program in Oviedo.  For a long time I have wanted to travel to Spain, and it has been one of my goals to learn Spanish.  It is a great opportunity for me.

I am most excited to learn about the Spanish culture through talking with the people, and participating in cultural activities.  I also am excited for siestas.  Siestas have always seemed like a great idea to me.

The biggest challenge for me, I think, is absorbing all of the Spanish I learn instead of forgetting it quickly.  I want to be able to practice it and remember it, so that when I come back to Utah I will be able to communicate better.  I hope I can retain what I learn.

I hope that my host family is friendly and talkative, so that I have people I can practice speaking Spanish with.

I think I am going to really enjoy Spain.
